As a bit of learning regarding our current undertaking here is a bit of collected information on selected artists:
Frank Auerbach
Born in 1931, Frank Auerbach is a German artist who is most well known as a painter. Auerbach utilizes a definitive style in which he expresses his subjects using broad, unrefined strokes of color. His style of painting has often lead to the belief that his work is expressionist in its roots, but he explains that it is instead an attempt at getting as close to an emotion in visual form as he can. Being that Auerbach has worked in the same London studio since the 1950s as well as consistently using the same models, it is plain to see a special sentiment he places on familiarity, which he believes results in better works based on instinctive habits.

Manfred Maier
The main bit of information I could gather on Manfred Maier credited him as an author, most notably of the book “Basic Principles of Design” (1981). A book which I can only assume is the first of its kind, and therefore a pioneer in the shaping of design to come.
Paula Rego
Born in 1932, Paula Rego is a Portuguese artist most well known as a painter and print maker. Rego has moved from abstract to representational work as she has evolved as an artist, with much of her work focusing on the topic of feminism. She draws from Portuguese folk stories to use as vessels of her brand of image making. Stylistically, Rego more currently is well known in her tight, concise lines, which contrast the looser style of her work earlier in her career.
