Small Group Proposals

Lombardi, Mark. Chandraswami, Khashoggi and BCCI Monte Carlo C. 1985-88. 1996-2000. Whitney Museum of American Art, New York City. Whitney Gallery. Web. 14 Sept. 2016.

When discussing a proposal of distribution in a small group we went back and forth about two main ideas. The first was to remove all Fiat Lux newspapers from their boxes around campus and replace them with copies of our zine. Not knowing how often the papers are replenished, we assumed that our zine would quickly be tossed out when the papers were replenished. Instead, we thought of placing copies of our zine on lounge area tables, much like that in doctors’ offices. The idea is the unspoken rule of not being able to take the magazines would be in place. We could include a “do not take, or do, I’m a sticker not a cop” sticker in order to try to divert removal of the zines, but if someone did decide to take one, then so be it, they obviously liked it enough to think they needed it permanently.

We would make a few dozen copies to place around the campus in various lounge areas, including, but not limited to: Each floor of Powell, Common areas of every dorm, library front desks, the wellness center, and downstairs at Ade Dining Hall. By creating new copies, we could effectively both make new and different versions, and kill our selves mentally and physically  in the process.

People lounging would find the zine there as a precariously placed piece to gaze upon for a few minutes while waiting for class or eating or whatever college students do when not in class.
